Dr. Orestis Pavlou
Dr. Orestis Pavlou is a teaching instructor of several Data Analytics, Computer Science and Python Programming related courses, as a scientific collaborator of European University Cyprus since 2023. His courses focus on utilizing Python for data analysis and several data analytics and visualization tools, such as Power BI. He is also an active researcher in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Astrophysics and Satellite Communications, participating in several research projects funded by the European Space Agency (ESA), as a member of the CERIDES Center of Excellence and Aristarchus Research Center group at European University Cyprus.
Between 2020-2026, he was employed as a Research Specialist at the Research Office of European University Cyprus. His work involved developing several research data management databases and platforms of the University’s research activities, as well as supporting EUC faculty members in submitting research proposals and managing research projects.
He holds a PhD in Computer Science from European University Cyprus. His doctoral research involved the development of Python code for analyzing data (spectra) from galaxies to study galaxy evolution, using Graph Theoretical algorithms and graph clustering analysis methods. He holds an MSc degree in Physics & Astronomy from the University of Amsterdam (UvA), as a member of the Gravitation AstroParticle Physics Amsterdam (GRAPPA) excellence program. He also holds a BSc & MSc degree in Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), focusing on Theoretical & Computational Physics and Nuclear & Particle Physics.
